With so much content posted online, how do we protect young children from viewing content not made for them or violence shown in videos? Due to investigations by the U.S. Government YouTube has allegedly made plans to take all children content off of their major website and move to their separate and safer YouTube Kids. The site was created in 2015 but with little traction due to the availability and easily accessible videos on the original YouTube site.
Violence in content is a huge concern for parents because it causes desensitization and it is hard to determine how seeing such images will effect their children, I think YouTube moving its childrens content to another website will reduce the number of younger viewers on the main site which should in turn reduce the amount of not only violence but sexual content that they may otherwise see online as well. It will give parents peace of mind when letting their children roam the internet knowing they can only access certain content.
